January 2021 School Reopening
Tuesday 5th January 2021
Following the latest government announcement, we would like to thank you very much for your patience and understanding at this difficult time.
In line with the latest lockdown guidance remote learning provision will start from tomorrow morning. All pupils can use the Seesaw app to access daily lessons set by their teacher. This will consist of a maths, English, reading/phonics task and another topic based task for your child to complete. There is also access to bug club and timetables rockstars/numbots for your child to practice reading and number skills.
Class teachers will share more detailed year group information via Seesaw.
Can we politely remind you that Seesaw is for communication between the teacher and child regarding specific daily learning task. Any other communication must be made via school office/admin email.
You will be contacted by your child’s class teacher to discuss their learning and any other issues you may have in the very near future.
Once again thank you for your continued support, stay safe and we look forward to welcoming the children back into school as soon as possible.
H E Simpson
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT SCHOOL CLOSURE
Dear parents and guardians,
A very happy new year to you all, we hope you have had a safe and restful festive period.
As always our aim is to keep all children and staff safe during this challenging time whilst continuing to provide an education for all.
Following the letter on our school website yesterday you will be aware that are ongoing meetings with unions and the government around health and safety in schools. The new strain of Corona virus and current union advice has led us to make the very difficult decision that as from Tuesday 5th January School will be only open for those children of CRITICAL WORKERS and VULNERABLE CHILDREN.
Staff are in school today in order to plan for the next two weeks for the children in school while maintaining safe bubbles and for those at home accessing remote learning. Our intention is to reopen on Monday 18th January to all children and we will keep you fully informed as soon as we can if the situation changes.
In line with our Remote Learning Offer, you will be able to access lessons via Seesaw from Wednesday morning. There will be daily learning activities, short videos and tasks for the children to access. We would encourage all children to do as much of this as possible. If you have issues with remote access please contact school and we will work with you to provide a solution.
We have already received several emails notifying us of Critical Worker Status. However - as a reminder -If you are a critical worker parent and sent your child during the first lockdown, you are already registered with us and have critical worker status. We will still need to know if you are wanting to send your child into school from Tuesday and the number of days you require.
If you are a new parent or have changed role and would need your child to attend from 5th January could you please email firstname.lastname@example.org with Key Worker as the email heading stating how many days you may require.
Please also provide proof of your Critical Worker status attached to the email.
We continue to work alongside the Local Authority and will keep you informed of any changes to the current situation as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support,
Important letter from Ms Simpson
I’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year and hope that 2021 brings health and happiness to all families in our community.
I am sure you are aware of the current speculation in the news about primary schools reopening next week.
We all want schools to be open safely as soon as possible. However, teaching unions are concerned about the current rate of transmission and that the new variant might be more prevalent amongst younger people than the previous variants.
Governors and senior managers want to guarantee safety for our children, their parents, our staff and their families.
If we are unable to fully open on 5th January, we will remain open for Key Worker parents and vulnerable pupils. All other children will have a remote education offer using the Seesaw App.
If you are a Key Worker parent and sent your child to school during the first lock down, you are already registered with us and have Key Worker status. However we will still need to know if you are wanting to send your child into school from Tuesday and the number of days you require next week.
If you are a new parent or have changed role and would need your child to attend from 5th January could you please email email@example.com with Key Worker as the email heading stating how many days you may require next week.
Please also provide proof of your Key Worker status attached to the email.
We are working alongside the Local Authority and will keep you informed of any changes to the current situation as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support,
