Reception New Starters

We’re delighted to welcome you and your child to Knop Law Primary School as part of our new Reception class 2020-21! Take a virtual tour of our school with Peppa Pig.

As a school, we’ve had to adapt rapidly over the past few weeks and we are currently open to our vulnerable children, children of critical workers and Year 6. We have arranged face to face contact meetings with all other children in our school over the next few weeks of term however as Early Years provision looks very different to how we hope things will be in September we have made other arrangements to support your child’s induction to Knop Law.

It’s definitely an unusual and challenging time at the moment, and we know that as well as being excited about starting school, you and your child might be feeling worried about the transition into Reception this September. We want to reassure you that we’re here for you every step of the way and as part of this our reception staff will be walking around the estate on 25th, 26th and 29th June, hoping to maybe say a socially distanced hello to you.

In addition to this, and in line with the government's guidelines on social distancing, we've had to adjust our arrangements for supporting this year’s transition. There will be no face to face opportunities to visit school however we hope that you can share our virtual tour with your child and get them excited about September.

We have also organised some activities for your child using the Seesaw app. Seesaw is a communication app that can be accessed through a wide range of IT devices eg. mobile phones, i-pads, computers and android devices. This app will be used throughout your child’s time at Knop Law. We would like to start to get to know your child and are asking that they draw a picture of themselves, attempt to write their name and, if possible, record a little voice message for us. Below is a guide to accessing Seesaw so that your child can share their work with their new teacher. You will need to use the QR we sent out to log in. If you have any problems logging in please contact our school office.

We have also been planning for September and hope that we will be able to take your child through our usual induction programme over three weeks in September. We are planning to have family coffee mornings in the first week back from the 9th September. This will be followed by 2 play afternoons.

W/c 7th September: Family coffee mornings will be on 9th, 10th and 11th of September.

W/c 14th September: 15th, 16th 17th and 18th September will be play afternoons 1pm-2.45pm in small class groups.

W/c 21st September: Play afternoons including lunch on 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th  September.

W/c 28th September: All children in school from 8.45pm- 2.30pm.

W/c 5th October: All children in school from 8.30pm-2.55pm.

Further information will be sent to you week beginning 6th July 2020.

Please note you will receive an invite to a coffee morning and play afternoons. This section of our website will be updated with any information that we send you, therefore it's a good idea to regularly check back.

We look forward to connecting with you over the next few weeks, as we prepare for the start of your child’s learning journey with us.

Warm regards,

Ms Simpson
