World Book Day 2018!

9th March 2018
World Book Day is a celebration! It's a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it's a celebration of reading. In fact, it's the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
This year our theme was bed-time stories and pupils came dressed in their pyjamas! They were treated to a very special story in assembly by a mysterious story-teller called Dookoo - he told a story of little girl, Asohka Tano, who defied all the odds to become the Queen of the kingdom ahead of her mean elder brothers.
In classrooms, elder pupils joined up with younger pupils to share a story - and all our tasks today were about reading and sharing our favourite stories. Pupils will also have the opportunity to buy their very own book from our book fayre.
*World Book Day was held a week later than the national celebration as our school was closed due to the adverse weather that day. We had a wonderful time sharing our passion for reading.
