School Day
The school day is punctuated by Key Stage and whole-school assemblies, break and lunchtime. School ends at 3pm with an opportunity to take part in After-School Clubs which run till 4pm. Below is an overview of the school day for Years 1 to 6:
8.30am Start | Pupils enter school and make their way to their classroom, with school staff monitoring and welcoming he entrance and yard. |
Assemblies | Pupils enjoy a range of assemblies which include topical affairs, class presentations, celebrations and more. This may be Key Stag specific or whole-school at least once each week. |
Lesson 1 | |
Guided Reading | Pupils have daily sessions with the opportunity to explore fiction and non-fiction texts in detail, as well as an opportunity to read and listen to the teacher model reading. |
Break | Pupils rotate between our two large yards, the multi-use games area (MUGA) and other areas of our school grounds. |
Lesson 2 | |
Lunch 11.45 - 12.45pm | Pupils having packed-lunch or school dinner enjoy an hour of lunchtime with opportunity to play on the school grounds- including a rotation of 'Welly Weeks' to explore the field. |
Lesson 3 | |
Break | Key Stage 1 pupils have the opportunity to have an additional 15 minute break-time where necessary. |
Lesson 4 | |
3pm End of School | Leading up to 3pm pupils are led to the picked up by parent/carers on the yard through their Key Stage door, are walked to the car park or walked to the school gates to go home. School staff monitor the school gates, car park and ensure pupils leave safely. |
3 - 4pm After School Clubs | From September, various clubs are available to Key Stages and this runs from 3pm to 4pm. |
